U2 3D at Pacific Science Center IMAX Theatre

Watching U2 3D, a concert film shot using digital 3-D multicamera technology, on a six stories high 80 feet wide IMAX screen, with 12,000 watts of stereo sound, is perhaps the next best thing to actually being within fingers’ reach of this iconic band! Visually the film is stunning and totally exhilarating - as the shot shifts from within the 60,000+ crowd at Rio de Janeiro's Maracana stadium up close to the band and Bono belts out “Sunday Bloody Sunday” onscreen I had goosebumps all over. In the words of one critic the sensation of physical proximity imparts a newfound feeling of immediacy to the songs, making the delivery of every lyric feel fresh, heartfelt, almost raw. The film is currently showing in limited realease and opens in a wider release on February 15.
